Fighting Breast Cancer with the Strength of Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

Barbells for Boobs is a nonprofit started by Zionna Munoz to fund breast-cancer screenings for people who might otherwise slip through the cracks. Partnering with CrossFit, the organization relies on hundreds of peer-to-peer events and athlete fundraisers, but struggled with clunky, buggy fundraising platforms and multi-step donation flows that made it hard for supporters to create pages or give quickly.

They switched to Classy, which simplified page customization, team creation, social and email sharing, and added a leaderboard via the Classy API plus real-time Salesforce integration for tracking and prize fulfillment. As a result, average online donations rose from about $20–$30 to $40–$50 and annual online revenue grew from $1.2M to $2.1M.
