A CivicPlus Case Study
The City of West Sacramento needed a better way to manage Public Records Act (PRA) requests as its population and request volume grew. Its process was manual, relying on email, paper requests, paper records, and staff meetings, which made it difficult to track tasks, meet deadlines, and keep up with increasing demand. The city turned to CivicPlus and its NextRequest product to modernize the workflow.
CivicPlus implemented NextRequest to automate records request management and organize PRA processes more efficiently. Since adopting the platform in 2015, the City of West Sacramento has streamlined workflows, reduced strain on staff and resources, and kept pace even as requests have nearly tripled in recent years. The city also noted that it would not be able to manage without NextRequest, highlighting the strong operational impact of CivicPlus.
