A CivicPlus Case Study
The Village of Wellington, Florida needed a more reliable way to communicate urgent hurricane preparedness and emergency information to its 65,000 residents and staff. Its previous alert system, CodeRED, was difficult to use, outdated, and did not give the village control over its resident contact lists. After seeing the value of a CivicPlus website redesign, Wellington chose the CivicPlus Mass Notification System to improve its public warning capabilities.
CivicPlus helped Wellington transition smoothly by providing resident contact data and tools to build voluntary subscriptions through features like text-to-sign-up. The Village of Wellington now uses CivicPlus for multi-channel alerts, including text, app messages, and automated phone calls, which have been especially helpful for seniors and residents without internet access. The system was put to use during Hurricane Dorian preparedness efforts and also supports internal staff communication, helping Wellington improve both emergency readiness and day-to-day coordination.
