Hurricane City, UT Recreation Keeps Citizens Engaged During COVID-19 with Esports Program

Hurricane City, UT, faced the challenge of keeping residents socially connected during the isolation and canceled recreation programs brought on by COVID-19. To address this, the city turned to CivicPlus and its CivicPlus Recreation Management software to launch a new esports program that could safely engage participants at home and in person.

CivicPlus helped Hurricane City manage registrations, scheduling, standings, and tournament coordination for the league, while the city used the platform to promote and grow participation. The result was strong early engagement: within a few months, Hurricane hosted two live tournaments, including 16 participants in the first event and about 10 in the second, while also expanding participation beyond the city through its virtual league.
