How the City of Burlington, VT Reimagined Stormwater Management

The City of Burlington faced the challenge of managing stormwater runoff while meeting state and federal permit requirements, reducing pollution, and helping residents better understand their role in water quality efforts. Many people were unaware of the systems, fees, and regulations involved, making public education and participation a key need. The city used CivicPlus’s SeeClickFix 311 CRM to support its stormwater management program.

CivicPlus helped the City of Burlington engage residents and staff to report, track, and address water, drainage, sewer, and stormwater issues through SeeClickFix. Since launching the platform, the city has created and tracked more than 580 issues, improving communication, building public involvement, and generating crowdsourced data to inform better water management decisions.
