Eugene, OR Delivers an Engaging Citizen Website with CivicEngage

The City of Eugene (population 156,185) faced a dated, fixed‑width website and a cumbersome CMS that made it hard for residents to find information and for staff to maintain content—about 150 staff members needed to contribute despite varying technical skills. Seeking a hosted, government-focused solution, the City of Eugene selected CivicPlus and its CivicEngage platform to lead a full website redesign and CMS upgrade.

CivicPlus delivered a responsive CivicEngage redesign with intuitive Live Edit, drag‑and‑drop content tools, an image repository and custom widgets, producing a modern, mobile‑friendly site that better reflects the city’s brand. The new site improved navigation, increased access for phone and tablet users (including the large student population), reduced call volumes, and made content maintenance far easier for nontechnical staff—outcomes praised by staff, elected officials and the mayor.
