Athens-Clarke, County, GA (population 124,907) faced a fragmented online presence—about 20 separate department websites with inconsistent content, resources, and navigation—making it difficult for residents to find services. To modernize and centralize their virtual presence, the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government selected CivicPlus and its CivicEngage CMS to build a unified, searchable municipal website.
CivicPlus implemented CivicEngage to consolidate roughly 20 departmental sites into a single platform with a shared administrative interface, search-centered navigation, and a clean, flexible design that allows many staff members to edit content and provide backup. The CivicPlus solution improved public access to information, streamlined departmental workflows, enabled remote updates even during a snowstorm days after launch, and made it easier for the government to gather citizen feedback.
