York Council switches from disparate systems to integrated bespoke Prescient software

City of York Council’s legal team was struggling with fragmented systems — an Access case database, a separate time recording system, Word for documents, email and Business Objects — which caused duplication, discrepancies and slow, resource-intensive work. After a formal procurement, the Council chose Civica’s Prescient+ for its cost, customisability, time recording and document-bundling capabilities to deliver a single, integrated case management platform.

Civica implemented Prescient+, migrating 10,000 records and 10 years of time-recording data within the planned timeframe and delivering a central web-based desktop for case management and reporting. The integrated, configurable system and bundling module introduced automation, reduced duplication, enabled remote working and cut paper storage needs (supporting smaller offices), with Civica continuing to provide helpdesk support and customisation assistance.
