Yarra Plenty Regional Library chooses Spydus to build a library service - like no other

Yarra Plenty Regional Library, a large regional library service in north‑eastern Melbourne, wanted to test the market after using the same LMS for 20 years to ensure it had a future‑focused, flexible system that supported personalization and consortia models. Through a joint procurement with Eastern Region Libraries Corporation they selected Civica’s Spydus for its intuitive browser interface, strong innovation roadmap and capacity to deliver a streaming‑like discovery experience.

Civica implemented Spydus on schedule (three‑month rollout), working with YPRL on data remapping and training to improve discoverability across their 20‑year catalogue and retire outdated records. Spydus APIs modernised the website (yprl.spydus), enabled customised event bookings, automated dust‑cover carousels, live reporting and mobile/app access (integrated with the Solus app), while Civica’s training model created branch champions—resulting in cleaner catalogue data, faster workflows and a more personalised user experience.
