A Civica Case Study
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in North Wales was facing rising demand for diabetes care, with insulin visits forming a significant and time-critical part of community nursing workload. Scheduling was initially very manual, putting pressure on teams who must balance frequent, time-specific insulin visits with complex clinical needs. To address this, the trust implemented Civica Scheduling (formerly Malinko) in 2020.
Civica Scheduling gave Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board repeat-visit generation, real-time visibility of nurse locations and future capacity, skills-based matching of clinicians to patient needs, and bespoke reporting to monitor insulin demand. Supported by new Peer Coach Support Manager roles, the solution reduced the risk of missed insulin visits, enabled better workforce planning through capacity-and-demand data, freed senior staff to focus on complex cases, and delivered demonstrably better, safer care for patients with diabetes.
