A Civica Case Study
The City of Stonnington Library & Information Service faced heavy administrative burdens that delayed access to local history and new collections. Working with Civica and its Spydus integrated library system, staff struggled with a legacy archives workflow that could take 6–8 weeks to make a new record available and a vendor‑to‑shelf process that could take up to 14 days.
Civica implemented Spydus (including the Spydus Archives module and Spydus EDI) to automate cataloguing and supplier interfaces, making new archive items discoverable in minutes and reducing delivery‑to‑shelf times to about one day (one instance saw 80 boxes processed and shelved in two days). The automation eliminated manual steps, lowered training time, supported growth of 55,000+ holdings, and freed staff to deliver roughly 80 community programmes monthly and other strategic projects.
