Qualifications Wales supports learners with flexible, user-focused system

Qualifications Wales, the independent regulator for non-degree qualifications in Wales, needed a new stand-alone, bilingual qualifications database to replace a legacy system populated from the English regulation database so that information would be easier to access and understand. They selected Civica to develop the Qualifications in Wales (QiW) portal within a challenging timescale.

Civica delivered the QiW portal using agile methods, creating a flexible, user-focused system that improved stakeholders’ ability to search and extract information, increased responsiveness to awarding bodies, and gave better visibility of work in progress while providing reliable, accurate qualifications data. The solution improved confidence and ease of use for stakeholders, attracted over 9,000 users in the first six months, and saw QiW named a finalist in the 2016 UK IT Industry Awards.
