A Civica Case Study
Port Stephens Council, the local government for the Port Stephens area in NSW serving over 72,000 residents with more than 500 staff, was hampered by heavily segregated systems and 300 isolated data sources that caused administrative delays, duplication and limited visibility across teams. To address these data silos and gain an enterprise view while meeting compliance needs, the Council engaged Civica and its Authority platform.
Civica optimised and integrated Authority modules with GIS, online CRM, payment gateway, Community Portal, Data Warehouse & BI and field workflows (via Actus) to enable single‑transaction data sharing, automated work orders and online self‑service. The implementation reduced data sources from 300 to 190, cut duplication, sped up corporate reporting and customer responses, and slashed planning‑certificate turnaround from five days to under one day (often under half a day), delivering measurable time savings for staff and an improved experience for ratepayers.
