Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Customer Case Study

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, a large acute teaching hospital serving around 2.5–4 million people with an annual income of about £850m, was using Civica SLAM to process income but was struggling as data volumes and reporting demands increased. The Trust relied on in‑house and third‑party processes to load many feeds (including 19 MEDWAY PAS feeds), which made timely, consistent income reporting difficult, so they turned to Civica for a more efficient solution.

Civica implemented its ProAuto module to automate the loading, calculation and reporting processes within SLAM, scheduling jobs overnight and improving transparency and auditability. The automation saved over two days of processing time each month (reducing the twice‑monthly loading task from 20+ hours to about 2–3 hours per reporting cycle), freed staff time (half a WTE Band 5 post was redeployed), improved variance analysis and resilience, and was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget by Civica.
