Modern.Gov helps Harpenden Town Council with aim to halve paper consumption by 2020

Harpenden Town Council, the largest parish in the St Albans District with nearly 30,000 residents and 16 councillors, struggled to manage around 65 meetings a year—each with multiple reports—using a small officer team and largely manual processes. To boost productivity and cut paper use the Council chose Modern.Gov, Civica’s Governance & Meeting Management solution, to streamline agenda and report production.

Civica implemented Modern.Gov in January 2018, delivering a paperless governance platform featuring agenda and minutes preparation, fully automated report review and sign-off, and paperless circulation. Harpenden Town Council estimates the solution reduced administrative time on committees and report preparation by 50–70% and has been instrumental in their drive to at least halve paper consumption by 2020.
