The Environment Agency faced the challenge of modernising a strategically important Document Management Service that stores around 9 million documents (about 7TB) and is accessed by up to 4,000 staff; with ageing software threatening its ability to support statutory permitting, the Agency engaged Civica to migrate and secure the service on SharePoint Online.
Civica designed, built and now supports a customised SharePoint Online deployment hosted in the Environment Agency’s Azure tenancy, using a blended UK–India team to deliver consistent quality and budgetary benefits. The solution preserves document integrity and compliance, improves user experience, makes metadata and data‑quality management easier, and creates a foundation for further infrastructure modernisation.
