Ipswich Libraries click n’ collect with Spydus APIs

Ipswich Libraries in Queensland wanted to modernize a system that was underserving a diverse user base—from digital natives to older patrons—and create a simpler, retail-like experience both in-branch and online. To do this they selected Civica’s Spydus10 platform, using Spydus APIs for a “click n’ collect” Marketplace interface and SpydusBI analytics to drive collection curation and performance reporting.

Civica’s Spydus solution delivered a bookstore-style in-branch display and a Netflix‑like online browsing and reservation experience, with automated analytics to rotate and tailor collections. The Marketplace nearly doubled turnover compared with other branches (close to 10 vs 4.5) and achieved an 80% loan rate for Marketplace items available for collection, while SpydusBI reporting enabled granular, data-driven collection management—results Ipswich Libraries will scale via kiosks and RFID-enabled pods.
