CostMaster enables cost savings at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) needed to get more from their costing data so the board and clinicians could understand how decisions affected the Trust’s finances. Working with Civica and using Civica’s CostMaster solution, the Trust aimed to improve PLICS/SLR reporting, deliver granular cost-per-test and theatre-session costing, and increase automation across costing processes.

Civica implemented CostMaster-driven PLICS/SLR automation and service-specific costing performance packs, delivering seven high-profile service reviews and 23 service packs and achieving 60% automation (with a target of 90%). The work produced measurable impact: £4.6 million of Cost Improvement Programme savings, robust cost-per-test for six disciplines, stronger board-to-clinician engagement, and faster, more actionable reporting that has begun to change internal culture.
