Corporate car pool keeps Dumfries & Galloway Council moving

Dumfries & Galloway Council, which covers a large rural area, needed a fairer, more cost‑effective alternative to officers using their own cars after allowance changes and rising fuel costs. The council partnered with Civica and used Civica’s Tranman fleet management system to develop an in‑house corporate pool car booking solution tailored to their needs.

Civica added pool‑booking functionality and an easy online app in Tranman, with licence checks, vehicle tracking and panic buttons to improve safety and central control. The Tranman‑based solution delivered measurable benefits: around 80% pool utilisation, a 12% reduction in staff travel costs over two years, a 75‑tonne annual CO2 reduction, and significantly reduced reliance on the grey fleet.
