Civica resolves Trowers & Hamlins three into one database challenge

Trowers & Hamlins, a multi-office law firm with locations across the UK, the Middle East and Asia, faced a complex data challenge: 200 million rows of case and accounts data held across disparate databases and branch-specific workflows made central accounting and management reporting difficult. Their long-term practice management supplier, Civica, was asked to deliver a unified database and preserve local working practices while enabling firm-wide business intelligence.

Civica implemented the LME data synchronisation and consolidation project, merging systems for London, Manchester and Exeter, upgrading SQL servers, migrating users to the latest practice-management software, training staff, and putting in back-out and disaster recovery plans while performing most work at weekends to avoid disruption. The work consolidated 70GB of data, maintained accounts reconciliation, streamlined system administration and enabled UK-wide, up-to-date data mining — with all systems operational one week after the LME merge, according to Trowers & Hamlins.
