Case Study: City of Cincinnati boosts tax revenue and speeds collections with Civica’s Authority Tax

A Civica Case Study

Preview of the City of Cincinnati Case Study

City of Cincinnati increased revenues by $500,000 through Civica’s Authority Tax

The City of Cincinnati tax department needed to modernize and consolidate three separate, aging applications, migrate 40 years of legacy data, and meet evolving state requirements while improving taxpayer service and collection efficiency. After evaluating multiple vendors, the City selected Civica and its Authority Tax solution to replace the disparate systems and simplify management under a single maintenance contract.

Civica implemented Authority Tax to consolidate systems, migrate legacy records, automate HB5-compliant certified-mail assessments, integrate the State Tape Discovery Program, and streamline billing and W‑2 processing. As a result, Civica’s Authority Tax reduced operating costs, sped up revenue collection and customer service, decreased accounts receivable, and helped the City increase revenues from delinquent tax accounts by more than $500,000 in a single year while enabling a 32‑person team to serve roughly 300,000 taxpayers more efficiently.
