Care City supports carers to reduce long-term health conditions with Agylia App

Care City, a centre for healthy ageing set up by the North East London Foundation Trust and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, faced a persistent problem with pressure ulcers across social care, adult safeguarding, community and hospital teams. To give carers a scalable, accessible way to prevent and manage pressure ulcers and spot early signs of deterioration, Care City engaged Civica to deliver a mobile education solution using the Agylia Learning Management System and Agylia mobile learning Apps (branded iCare).

Civica implemented the Agylia LMS and iCare iOS/Android apps, providing downloadable offline access, microlearning modules, videos, podcasts and multimedia content based on the NHS Great SKIN guide, plus SCORM and xAPI/LRS tracking that captures learning even when devices are offline and synchronises when online. The richer analytics allow Care City to measure usage and learning experiences, and the app is being independently evaluated by City, University of London; expected results include increased carer knowledge and confidence, fewer health crises and long‑term conditions, and reduced healthcare use such as urgent hospital admissions.
