The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) had selected Microsoft 365 to underpin a strategic digital workplace intended to speed up guideline production, improve information management and support more agile working, but its board declined to approve the investment because the business case did not clearly articulate the required solution or anticipated benefits. To get the programme back on track, NICE engaged Civica’s Digital Workplace team to review and strengthen the business case using Civica’s Digital Workplace Framework.

Civica performed a rapid 10‑working‑day review, assessed supporting materials, engaged stakeholders to align understanding, and produced a succinct report with prioritised, actionable recommendations, revised scope, cost framing and a management summary for executive briefings. Civica’s work delivered a clear path for business case revision, deepened stakeholder buy‑in, and produced a board‑ready, evidence‑based business case that gave NICE’s Director the confidence and material needed to take the next steps toward implementing the Microsoft 365 digital workplace.
