WesBanco - Customer Case Study

WesBanco, a 1,700‑employee regional bank with 141 branches in West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania, needed to grow without sacrificing customer experience or significantly increasing operating expenses or IT headcount. The bank faced challenges around performance, security, efficiency and faster onboarding of acquired branches, and wanted a way to centralize data and streamline application delivery so staff could focus on service rather than device configuration.

WesBanco implemented a unified virtualized infrastructure using Cisco (UCS, WAAS, networking and collaboration) and Citrix (XenApp, Provisioning Services), plus a secure BYOD/thin‑client model. The solution cut login times by 75%, sped transactions to about 2 seconds, saved roughly $1M in OpEx over a year, enabled two major acquisitions that nearly doubled the bank’s size without adding IT staff or extra OpEx, and shortened integration timelines by about 60 days while improving uptime and energy efficiency.
