Open Access College (OAC), serving students across Adelaide and Port Augusta, Australia, provides remote lessons to children aged 5–18 who are isolated by illness or geography. The college relied on costly, one-way audio conferencing — with an annual phone bill approaching US$1.2M — and was asked to cut spending while improving teaching engagement and flexibility.

OAC deployed Cisco WebEx Training Center plus Cisco networking and TelePresence to create interactive virtual classrooms, breakout groups, recordings and reliable campus wireless. The change cut phone costs by over 96% (saving about US$1.37M/year), enabled more than 10–15 concurrent sessions (over 1,000 teaching hours daily), and helped scale a language program from 400 to 4,000 students in five years while boosting teacher-student engagement and operational agility.
