Face to Face Fighting Cancer with Better Video Collaboration

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, needed a simpler way for clinicians and researchers to meet virtually: global collaborators used a mix of incompatible video systems, affiliate hospitals often lacked the necessary technology, IT staff spent time traveling to troubleshoot, and HR interviews were frequently degraded by technical problems that obscured candidates’ communication. These issues slowed collaboration, increased costs, and limited the center’s ability to connect large groups across the state and the world.

Moffitt deployed Cisco WebEx Meeting Center video—a cloud-based combination of personal rooms and a video bridge—so participants can join from any standards-based device, share high-quality content, and record securely. The change cut meeting setup time from 60 to 10 minutes, supported sessions with 200+ attendees without costly room retrofits, streamlined up to 24 monthly interviews (saving about three IT workdays), and freed IT to focus on higher-value priorities while improving clinical and research collaboration.
