UCSF Health sought to improve cancer screening rates and patient outreach efficiency across its primary care practices. The manual process of having panel managers call patients who were overdue for screenings was labor-intensive and limited their reach. To address this challenge, UCSF Health partnered with CipherHealth to implement its automated call system (ACS) as part of its Preventive Outreach program.

The solution from CipherHealth automated outgoing calls to patients, which allowed panel managers to focus their efforts on individuals who requested a callback. This CipherHealth system resulted in a 78% increase in completed cancer screenings and enabled the panel manager using the technology to complete 43% more outreach workflows. The program nearly doubled the number of patients reached and reduced the cost per closed care gap by nearly two-thirds, significantly improving outreach cost-effectiveness.
