Lutheran Medical Center, a 359-bed urban hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, was using CipherHealth’s Voice follow-up program but found patients frequently confused about discharge instructions and medications. The hospital needed a way to improve comprehension and compliance after discharge, especially for surgical patients.

CipherHealth implemented Echo on the Surgical Unit, letting nurses record personalized discharge instructions patients could replay by phone or hear on Voice follow-up calls. Over four months LMC created 428 Echo recordings, saw an 11% increase in patient engagement with Voice, a 21% reduction in questions about discharge instructions and a 59% reduction in medication questions, prompting housewide adoption of Echo.
