Alaska Airlines wanted to make its Mileage Plan loyalty program more sustainable while still giving its most loyal guests a compelling way to earn elite status. Working with CHOOOSE, the airline looked for a customer experience that could educate travelers about sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and replace traditional end-of-year “mileage runs” with a lower-carbon alternative.
Using CHOOOSE’s digital SAF platform, Alaska Airlines launched a limited-time program that let members support SAF purchases and earn 500 elite-qualifying miles for every $100 spent. The campaign contributed to over 500,000 gallons of SAF, drove a 2.7% conversion rate on the custom landing page, and saw 8.6% of participating members maximize their contribution, helping Alaska deliver one of the largest annualized customer contribution programs for SAF.
