Radio Télévision Suisse speeds OpenMedia graphics rollout with CGI, going live right before production on air

CGI helped Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) address the challenge of integrating a new real-time motion graphics system, XPression, into its established OpenMedia newsroom workflow. RTS needed to replace its old graphics system and overhaul its MOS-based production workflow to give graphics operators more creative freedom, while also managing a complex network that interfaced with various other systems like radio production and copyright documentation.

The solution involved CGI developing a custom HTML5 plug-in to bridge OpenMedia and XPression, moving beyond a standard ActiveX interface for greater flexibility and future-proofing. Working closely with RTS and Ross Video, CGI adapted an existing plugin to successfully handle the integration just before launch. The result empowered RTS's graphics artists to deploy creative visuals smoothly within a story-oriented workflow, maximizing the return on investment in the new system.
