Île-de-France Regional Government launches 471-lycée VLE with CGI

The Île-de-France Regional Government faced the challenge of reducing educational inequality for its 475,000 lycée students by launching Europe's largest virtual learning environment (VLE) project. Their goal was to bring together 1.2 million users in the educational community and foster dialogue through digital tools. They partnered with CGI to implement this ambitious 24 million Euro initiative.

CGI implemented a scalable, open-source VLE solution called Lilie, delivered via a SaaS model. Working in close partnership with the client, CGI consultants provided on-the-ground support to train administrators at each institution. The results were significant, with 10,000 daily connections achieved within a year across 150 institutions. The project's success led other regions, like Rhône-Alpes, to adopt the solution, reusing the CGI-built VLE for their own communities.
