Forestry England modernizes timber sales with CGI over 20-year legacy system

Forestry England, the manager of England's public forest estate, faced challenges with its 20-year-old legacy timber sales system. The outdated application had become inefficient, complex, and prone to errors, making it unfit for its critical role in managing timber stocks, sales, and invoicing. To address this, Forestry England partnered with vendor CGI to develop a modern replacement solution.

CGI implemented a new web application called eTimber using an agile, modular approach. This allowed the new system to run in parallel with the old one, mitigating risk and delivering improvements in stages. The solution, developed by CGI, successfully provided a future-proof platform that improved staff productivity and ownership.
