A CGI Case Study
The Estonian Tax and Customs Board faced the challenge of creating and launching a new national employment register within an extremely tight three-month timeframe, as mandated by a new law. The goal was to reduce the use of illegal workers and improve tax collections. They partnered with CGI to develop this mission-critical application.
CGI delivered and integrated an electronic employment register on time. The solution enabled digital registration via web, machine-to-machine interface, and mobile phone, eliminating in-person visits. As a result, CGI helped register nearly 600,000 employees from 70,000 companies. The solution increased labor tax collections by an estimated €5.1 million within the first four months and registered over 9,000 first-time workers who would have previously been classified as illegal.
