City of Helsinki and City of Vantaa improve HR self-services with CGI from 2007 to 2011

The Cities of Helsinki and Vantaa, two major Finnish municipalities, faced a challenge in meeting productivity and cost-saving targets. Their existing HR processes were paper-heavy, hierarchical, and overlapping. They partnered with their long-serving IT vendor, CGI, to develop user-friendly electronic HR tools to reduce routine work and streamline operations.

CGI developed role-specific HR desktops with smart self-services for key processes like absence management and annual holidays. The web-based solution provided single-sign-on access, allowing users to work from anywhere. As a result, the cities improved staff productivity, achieved their cost-saving targets, and gained greater process transparency and flexibility. The joint project with CGI provided financial benefits for both customers.
