Care Fertility cuts embryo annotation time by six months a year with CGI

Care Fertility, an international fertility group and the UK's largest IVF provider, challenged CGI to improve and accelerate their embryo selection process using artificial intelligence. The challenge was to automate the manual, time-intensive annotation of time-lapse embryo images to make the selection process more reliable and less subjective for their embryologists.

CGI developed a robust deep learning model using computer vision and time-series analysis, which was integrated into a new cloud-based platform. The solution performs at least as well as expert manual annotation, freeing up approximately six months of embryologist time per year and reducing training requirements. This allows embryologists to focus more on patient care while increasing the reproducibility and accuracy of embryo selection, giving patients their best chance of success.
