Bell Canada scales to 225+ spatial data layers with CGI

Bell Canada, a major Canadian communications company, sought to improve its network planning process. Their planners operated autonomously using manual, paper-based methods, which hindered collaboration and made it difficult to analyze complex data. CGI recommended and implemented a proof of concept for a new geospatial data platform to address this challenge.

CGI rapidly delivered a Minimum Viable Product using a low-code approach and agile methods, completing the initial version in just four weeks. The solution evolved into an enterprise-wide geospatial data platform that integrated numerous data sources, enabling powerful visualization and analytics. The impact was significant; the platform was so successful that Bell forewent a planned enterprise data warehouse investment. CGI's solution scaled to house over 225 layers of spatial data and is now used across multiple business domains to support network planning and business optimization.
