The Future of Location-Driven Mobile Big Data Vodafone Analytics

Vodafone Business, the B2B arm of the multinational telco, needed a way to turn the vast volume of mobile network data across its global footprint into privacy-compliant location intelligence. The challenge was twofold: extract meaningful population-level mobility patterns while ensuring robust anonymization and present those insights through an accessible interface for non-technical customers. Vodafone partnered with CARTO to build a commercial product—Vodafone Analytics—that addressed both needs.

Vodafone Analytics aggregates and anonymizes mobile events and uses CARTO’s geospatial platform to visualize and analyze mobility for use cases in Retail, Real Estate and Tourism (footfall, catchment areas, visitor profiles, isochrones, etc.). The solution enabled faster product development, helped Vodafone win key data-monetization deals, and is now being scaled across markets—giving organizations without analytics teams actionable location insights for better site planning, marketing and event decisions.
