Turlock Irrigation District Automates their Benefit Administration

Turlock Irrigation District, a public water and electricity provider serving more than 98,000 electric accounts and 150,000 acres of farmland, relied on a completely paper-based benefits enrollment and manual payroll coding system despite being otherwise technologically modern. With a dispersed workforce, rotating shifts, and some employees living an hour from headquarters, annual enrollment was time-consuming, error-prone, and burdensome for HR.

The district implemented CareerBuilder HCM to provide employee self-service and integrate with payroll, launching in time for the 2012 enrollment year. The automated system eliminated paper forms and manual data entry, scaled to support multiple medical, dental, vision, life, and voluntary plans, reduced administrative workload, and was widely adopted by employees.
