Sysco Subsidiary Menigo Applies CarbonCloud Machine Learning to 23,000 products

Menigo, the Swedish subsidiary of global foodservice leader Sysco, faced the challenge of navigating a complex sustainability landscape and calculating the climate footprint of its vast product portfolio. To meet its net-zero target and provide actionable insights to its clients, it partnered with the climate intelligence vendor CarbonCloud to apply its machine learning platform to 23,000 products.

CarbonCloud's solution used algorithm-based calculations to determine footprints in weeks instead of years, a process which Menigo's CEO called a "complete game changer." The results provided detailed, comparable climate data for every product, moving the company from top-down estimates to precise numbers. Furthermore, Menigo plans to integrate CarbonCloud directly with its ERP and e-commerce systems to offer emissions-based recommendations to its clients at checkout.
