Case Study: Chorley Council achieves faster, more accurate planning application processing with Capita

We’ve been working alongside Chorley Council’s planning department to help residents get their householder planning applications processed as efficiently and accurately as possible

Chorley Council’s planning department needed help handling spikes in householder planning applications while operating with limited in-house capacity. Capita supported the council by stepping in to clear backlogs and process minor planning cases more efficiently and accurately.

Over six months, Capita’s planning resilience team reviewed proposals, carried out site visits, assessed consultees, negotiated with applicants, and prepared reports and recommendations. The result was that high volumes of applications were processed quickly and accurately, all council KPIs were met, and residents could complete home extensions sooner; the work was so effective that Capita went on to support further planning resilience work for Chorley Council.
