Capita partnered with the Department of Health and Social Care’s Test and Trace programme to rapidly train people for large-scale lateral flow testing during the coronavirus pandemic. The challenge was to safely upskill thousands of military and civilian users at speed, without relying on clinical trainers, so testing could be expanded across schools, care homes, local authorities, and the private sector.

Capita delivered a digital learning platform and video-based training in just eight days, then continuously updated it with 27 modules, multilingual content, weekly clinical guidance, and support via helpdesk and PowerBI monitoring. The solution scaled from an initial 2,000 users to more than 500,000, achieved 100% uptime, 98% learner satisfaction, 99% tester confidence, and helped avoid an estimated £17 million in face-to-face training costs.
