Warrington Borough Council Helping to identify children who are at risk of becoming NEET earlier

Warrington Borough Council needed a better way to identify children most at risk of becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training) so it could intervene earlier and improve their life chances. The council had been trying to manually analyze large amounts of school and pupil data, but the process was too time-consuming, difficult to sustain, and needed to account for frequently changing information. Capita One’s Child Profiling Tool was used to help.

Using Capita One’s Child Profiling Tool, Warrington Borough Council automated the analysis of Risk of NEET Indicator (RONI) data and kept a constant watch on pupils’ changing circumstances. The solution saved time, improved consistency, and helped staff and schools agree on which children needed support or monitoring. The council said the tool helped them plan future provision and, from September 2013, would be used to track children from Year 8 so they could intervene sooner and improve outcomes.
