Leeds City Council, the second largest metropolitan authority in England, needed a more efficient way to administer Education Benefits alongside Housing and Council Tax Benefits. After using an in-house system with limited functionality, the council wanted a future-proof, integrated solution that could reduce re-keying, improve processing time, and support free school meals and school clothing awards more effectively. Capita One was selected to provide the new revenues and benefits platform.

Capita One implemented an integrated Education Benefits module within its Revenues and Benefits system, developed in close partnership with council staff and delivered to tight deadlines. The solution enabled benefits to be assessed together, automated communication of free school meals data to schools, improved reporting, and reduced duplication across processes. Leeds City Council reported significant administrative time and cost savings, faster claim handling, better accuracy, improved customer service, and more flexible electronic scheduling of information to schools.
