How Capita’s Local Land and Property Gazetteer integration software gained £62,000 for Newport City Council

Newport City Council worked with Capita One to improve the way it managed and matched address data across council systems. The council needed a more efficient way to cross-check council tax records against electoral registration, revenues and benefits, and other back-office systems, while also tracking property changes and new developments to reduce errors and uncover missed revenue.

Using Capita One’s Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) integration software, the council assigned Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRNs) to properties and improved synchronisation between systems. The project helped identify previously unbilled or incorrectly billed properties and other revenue opportunities, delivering more than £62,000 in additional annual billing revenue for Newport City Council and contributing to over £800,000 in additional revenue realised through wider rollout.
