Portsmouth Water, an independent water supplier serving around 280,000 households and 20,000 businesses in South East Hampshire and West Sussex, needed a secure and efficient way to expand customer payment options while managing card fraud risk. With a long-standing relationship with Capita One, the company chose Capita’s payment solutions to support card payments across counter, telephone, and online channels.

Capita One implemented a managed payment service using Counter Receipting, Income Management, Touch Tone, Internet Payments, and MOTO card processing, along with fraud protections such as Chip and PIN, CSC, and 3D Secure/Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode. The result was strong customer adoption and operational efficiency, with annual volumes of about 23,000 Touch Tone payments, 8,000 internet payments, and 27,000 MOTO payments, while reducing staff involvement in self-service transactions.
