A Capgemini Case Study
Vodafone UK, a major telecommunications company, faced the challenge of upgrading its outdated electronic point of sale (EPoS) systems to meet new Chip & Pin regulations and to reduce the high costs of maintaining its legacy technology. To overcome this, they partnered with the vendor Capgemini to develop and deploy a new retail solution that would provide greater functionality and support their strategic growth.
Capgemini's solution involved replacing all hardware, installing mandatory Chip & Pin technology, and developing new staff-centric systems for commissions and time management. This allowed Vodafone to decommission five legacy systems within 12 months, becoming the first retailer in its sector to have Chip & Pin live in all stores. The results included lower technology costs, greater business control, real-time management visibility, and a system positioned for future growth.
