Hydro One adapts payroll functions to help manage disruption

Hydro One, a large electricity provider in Ontario, faced the challenge of maintaining its critical payroll operations when the province declared an emergency shutdown due to the coronavirus. Capgemini had previously helped design and implement a cloud-based ServiceNow platform for Hydro One, which became the vital solution. This system provided a central hub for employee requests and enabled seamless communication between Hydro One HR and the Capgemini team, allowing payroll to go fully remote and paperless. The solution allowed the teams to transition to working from home with no impact to operations; they maintained the payroll schedule for all employees and pensioners without skipping a beat and even expedited processes to support staff affected by COVID-19.
