Vodafone Rapidly Deploys Broadband Connectivity for Flooding Relief

Vodafone faced severe spring flooding in Central Europe (notably Hungary) that destroyed an intermediate aggregation site and threatened voice and data cellular service during emergency relief. To restore backup backhaul quickly, Vodafone turned to Cambium Networks and its Point-to-Point (PTP) 500 backhaul solution.

Cambium Networks deployed PTP 500 links using unlicensed 5.8 GHz spectrum to bypass regulatory delays and had equipment cabled and fully operational at both tower locations in about four hours. The solution delivered reliable voice and data backup—carrying vital data for emergency relief agencies and local residents—using features like MIMO, Dynamic Spectrum Optimization, adaptive modulation and high spectral efficiency to maintain performance in difficult conditions.
