Sharp - Customer Case Study

Sharp Corporation, a global electronics manufacturer, set out to develop a new CMOS image sensor amid rapidly growing demand for sensors in consumer and automotive devices. The team faced tight time-to-market pressure and specific design hurdles around timing and routability convergence that their previous digital flow couldn’t resolve.

Sharp adopted the Cadence Encounter RTL-to-GDSII flow—including RTL Compiler, Conformal Equivalence Checker, Digital Implementation System, and Test—which provided physical-aware RTL synthesis, better congestion handling, and faster timing convergence plus at‑speed test insertion. The result was a 2x improvement in turnaround time and higher-quality outcomes in timing, area, and productivity, enabling faster market delivery without sacrificing silicon quality.
