Renesas, a global leader in microcontroller and SoC products, faced significant challenges in verification due to the increasing complexity of its designs. With confined resources and market pressures dictating strict tapeout schedules, the company needed to improve verification throughput, accelerate coverage closure, and shorten its overall design cycle. To address this, Renesas adopted the AI-driven Verisium Platform and Xcelium ML App from Cadence.

The Cadence solution provided a holistic debug environment and utilized machine learning to optimize simulation regressions. This implementation resulted in a 6X improvement in verification productivity and a 66% reduction in the verification regression cycle. The Xcelium ML App also achieved a 2.2X regression compression with no loss of coverage, saving approximately 27 work hours and enabling Renesas to meet its aggressive time-to-market demands.
